Security measure to take while using Net Banking

In this  digital era everyone is moving toward Net Banking but still there are those who hesitate from using online services. The main reason for not using online payments are security risks, unknown of what kind of security measures to take to avoid any online fraud. Now-a-days fraudulent attempts became more professional and cybernetics, but with right precautions all those frauds attacks can be avoided. Here are some net-banking security tips to keep in mind for online banking transactions.

1. Change your password frequently

It is very important to your password after some time, and by any chance do not use the same password as of your email account or other net-banking accounts. Make sure that your password is 8 or more characters and must be a good mixture of CAPITAL & small letters, numbers, and special characters.

2. Don't share your personal details

Never share your date-of-birth or phone number associated with net banking. Many fraudulent people call the users on the name of their  respective banks and ask for D.O.B. , ATM pin, or other details related to your account. None of the bank will ask for your personal details or account number. Even if the person is trusted and reliable don't share your account details.

3. Always log out

Every time you log in and get access to your bank account, always make it a habit of signing out. Don't close the tab or the window without without logging out. This is the most common mistake people do.

4. Don't click on the login links in e-mail

Don't even think about it. you do it and all of your life savings are kaboom. The hijackers can deceive you by creating a spoof of original banking website with almost same domain name. And after creating the spoof, they will send the send the login request to user by creating a lucrative email. Never click on the links in your email in order to sign in to your account instead, Even on your social media account don't click on the coming in the inbox, they may look like coming from the friend but can be harmful or fraudulent. Instead, type in the address in address bar and log in on your own.

5. Unknown software/attachments    

Don't open attachments or install free software from unknown resources it may expose your computer and information to the unauthorised user.

6. Online keyboard

Use the online keyboard for entering the user account id and password. Performing this step will save your credentials from any key-logger's softwares. 

7. Keep an eye on phishing attacks

Be ware of the phishing attacks claiming to be from the bank on your email, mobile phone, social networks or through phone phone calls as well. Also, limit your personal information on your social networking sites, the information you post there, the easier it becomes for a criminal to steal your identity, access your data or commit other crimes.

8. Avoid public or free Wi-Fi

STOP yourself from accessing your internet banking account public computers and network. These are fine for general purpose usage but not for online banking because you don't know what kind of malware is there or who is watching you while doing transactions.

9. Keep an eye on your account frequently

Once in a week access your account and check your account balance and summary to find out that everything is in line. if you notice anything suspicious, contact your bank immediately.

10. Make use of effective and updated antiviruses

Keep your system secure that you're using for online banking by installing the effective and updated antivirus. It not only saves your system from viruses but is also a defence against phishing attacks, malware, fraudulent pages and other threats. Also, also keep your OS updated.

11. Secure your mobile devices

As mobile devices usage is now continuously increasing for performing online banking. Make sure it's secure that you have enabled the screen lock or fingerprint sensor on the mobile devices to keep your information secure. And make sure you have locked your banking app.


Well if you follow these security measure while using net-banking you are good to go. As it is essential to adapt new services but with adequate safety measures in mind.
